Bangladeshi Curry
This flavorful Bangladeshi curry is made with a blend of spices, tender meat, and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Water - 2 cups
- Potatoes - 2 medium, peeled and cubed
- Chicken or lamb - 500 grams, cut into pieces
- Salt - To taste
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the chicken or lamb pieces and cook until they are browned.
- Add the cubed potatoes and stir to coat them with the spices.
- Pour in water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until the meat is tender and potatoes are cooked.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
