Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Shredded Duck
A rich and hearty dish that combines creamy macaroni and cheese with succulent shredded duck.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Macaroni - 2 cups
- Duck breast - 2, skin on
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Score the duck skin and season with salt and pepper. Place skin-side down in a cold pan, then turn the heat to medium and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the fat has rendered. Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes, then remove from the pan and shred the meat.
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, then bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the cheddar and parmesan until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the shredded duck and cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with the breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
