Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
  3. Stir the mixture until a dough forms, then transfer it to a floured surface.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles, then shape it into a long baguette shape.
  8. Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Make diagonal slashes on the top of the dough with a sharp knife.
  10. Bake the baguette in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
