Hoddeok

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, yeast, salt, and vegetable oil. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the flour to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for 1 to 2 hours.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts.
  4. After the dough has risen, divide it into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and place a spoonful of the sugar mixture in the center. Seal the dough around the filling and flatten it into a pancake shape.
  5. Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the pancakes for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and the sugar filling has melted.
  6. Serve the hoddeok hot, being careful of the hot sugar filling.
