Apple Cider Braised Chicken
This delicious and hearty dish features chicken thighs braised in apple cider, making it a perfect meal for the fall season.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Apples - 2, cored and sliced
- Thyme - 1 sprig
- Rosemary - 1 sprig
- Chicken broth - 1 cup
- Apple cider - 2 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Chicken thighs - 4, bone-in, skin-on
Let's Get Started
- Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, skin-side down, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the apple cider, chicken broth, rosemary, and thyme to the skillet. Bring to a boil.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, skin-side up. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Add the apples to the skillet, cover, and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the apples are tender.
- Serve the chicken with the apples and sauce from the skillet.
