Maple Glazed Pork Belly with Apple Puree
This delicious dish combines the sweetness of maple syrup with the savory flavor of pork belly, complemented by a tangy apple puree.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Apples - 4, peeled and cored
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Maple syrup - 1/2 cup
- Pork belly - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 300°F.
- In a bowl, mix together the maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Add the pork belly and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Place the pork belly in a roasting pan and pour over the marinade. Cover with foil and roast for 2.5 hours.
- While the pork is roasting, make the apple puree. Cut the apples into chunks and place in a saucepan with the lemon juice and a little water. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft.
- Puree the apples in a blender or food processor until smooth. Stir in the butter and season with salt and pepper.
- Increase the oven temperature to 400°F. Remove the foil from the pork and roast for another 30 minutes, until the pork is caramelized and crispy.
- Serve the pork belly slices with a dollop of apple puree.
