Ingredients - Serves 12

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sliced almonds, flour, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie as they will spread.
  5. Using the back of a spoon, flatten and spread the batter into thin rounds.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the florentines cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Optional: Once the florentines are cooled, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the top for added flavor and decoration.
  9. Allow the chocolate to set before serving.
