Agebitashi
Agebitashi is a traditional Japanese dish made with deep-fried tofu simmered in a flavorful broth.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Ginger - 1 small piece, sliced
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Dashi stock - 2 cups
- Firm tofu - 1 block
Let's Get Started
- Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or pot for deep-frying.
- Deep-fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pot, combine dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and ginger. Bring to a boil.
- Add the deep-fried tofu cubes to the pot and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve hot as an appetizer or side dish.
