Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. In a pan, heat some oil and sauté the pork belly until browned.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms and dried shrimp to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Season the filling with salt, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, and five-spice powder. Mix well and set aside.
  5. Take two bamboo leaves and overlap them to form a cone shape.
  6. Add a spoonful of sticky rice to the bottom of the cone.
  7. Add a spoonful of the filling on top of the rice.
  8. Cover the filling with more sticky rice.
  9. Fold the bamboo leaves over the rice to form a tight package.
  10. Secure the package with kitchen twine.
  11. Repeat the process with the remaining leaves, rice, and filling.
  12. Place the zongzi in a steamer and steam for 2 hours, or until the rice is cooked and the flavors have melded together.
  13. Remove the zongzi from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving.
  14. To serve, unwrap the zongzi and enjoy!
