Zabuton
Zabuton is a traditional Japanese dish made with marinated and grilled beef short ribs.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Sake - 1/4 cup
- Mirin - 1/4 cup
- Soy sauce - 1/2 cup
- Beef short ribs - 2 pounds
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, ginger, and green onions to make the marinade.
- Place the beef short ribs in a ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the beef short ribs from the marinade and discard the excess marinade.
- Brush the grill grates with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper.
- Grill the beef short ribs for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the beef short ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the beef short ribs against the grain and serve hot.
