Turnip cake is a traditional Chinese snack served during Chinese New Year. It is made from shredded radish (commonly referred to as turnip) and plain rice flour.

Let's Get Started

  1. Combine the shredded radish and water in a large bowl. Stir in the rice flour until well combined.
  2. Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the Chinese sausage, dried shrimp, and shiitake mushrooms. Cook until fragrant.
  3. Add the radish mixture to the pan. Stir in the green onions, salt, white pepper, and sesame oil. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased cake pan. Steam over high heat for 60 minutes, or until set.
  5. Let the turnip cake cool completely before cutting into slices.
  6. Heat some vegetable oil in a pan. Pan-fry the turnip cake slices until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Serve the turnip cake warm with soy sauce or hoisin sauce.
