Turkey Gravy
This homemade turkey gravy is rich, flavorful, and the perfect accompaniment to your Thanksgiving turkey.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Chicken or turkey broth - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Turkey drippings - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onion and garlic mixture. Stir well to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the turkey drippings and chicken or turkey broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Strain the gravy through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps or solids.
- Serve hot with roasted turkey.
