Tuna and Tomato Pasta Sauce
This delicious pasta sauce combines tuna, tomatoes, and herbs for a flavorful and satisfying meal.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Grated parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cooked pasta - 12 oz
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Canned diced tomatoes - 1 can (14 oz)
- Canned tuna - 2 cans (5 oz each), drained
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the garlic and onion, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the canned tuna and break it up with a spoon. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the pasta is heated through.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
