Ingredients - Serves 12

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 23cm (9 inch) cake tin.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a double boiler. Once melted, remove from the heat and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved.
  3. Beat the eggs into the chocolate mixture one at a time, followed by the flour. Stir in the ground hazelnuts.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for about 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
  5. While the cake is cooling, make the chocolate cream by heating the whipping cream in a saucepan until hot but not boiling. Remove from the heat and stir in the milk chocolate until melted and smooth.
  6. Cut the cooled cake horizontally into seven equal layers. Spread a layer of chocolate cream between each layer as you stack them back together.
  7. Dust the top of the cake with the cocoa powder before serving.
