Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. In a saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon zest over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Place the bread slices in a shallow dish and pour the milk mixture over them. Let the bread soak for about 5 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. In a separate shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Dip each soaked bread slice into the beaten eggs, making sure to coat both sides.
  6. Fry the bread slices in the hot oil until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Remove the torrijas from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. In a small bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Coat each torrija in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  10. Serve the torrijas warm or at room temperature.
