Tomato Sauce for Pizza

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Score a small 'X' on the bottom of each tomato.
  2. Place the tomatoes in the boiling water for about 1 minute, then transfer them to a bowl of ice water to cool.
  3. Peel the skin off the tomatoes and remove the cores. Chop the tomatoes into small pieces.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Cook until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before using it as a topping for your homemade pizza.
