Tofu Katsu
Tofu Katsu is a delicious Japanese dish made with crispy breaded tofu served with a tangy katsu sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Cooked rice - 2 cups
- Katsu sauce - 1/4 cup
- Cabbage - 1/4 head, shredded
- Vegetable oil - 1/4 cup
- Panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Egg - 1, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Firm tofu - 1 block (14 oz)
Let's Get Started
- Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into rectangular slices.
- Coat each tofu slice in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded tofu slices until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, sauté the shredded cabbage until slightly wilted.
- Serve the tofu katsu with shredded cabbage, cooked rice, and a side of katsu sauce for dipping.
