Let's Get Started

  1. Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into rectangular slices.
  2. Coat each tofu slice in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded tofu slices until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the shredded cabbage until slightly wilted.
  5. Serve the tofu katsu with shredded cabbage, cooked rice, and a side of katsu sauce for dipping.
