Ingredients - Serves 6
- Vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Tomato sauce - 2 cups
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Egg - 1
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Cooked rice - 1 cup
- Ground beef - 1 pound
- Cabbage - 1 large head
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the whole head in boiling water until the leaves are soft and pliable, about 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Carefully remove the cabbage leaves and lay them flat. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each leaf, then roll up the leaf, tucking in the sides.
- Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the tomato sauce, sugar, and vinegar. Pour over the cabbage rolls.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 1 hour, or until the cabbage rolls are tender and the meat is cooked through.
