Tarte aux Figues
This delicious French tart is made with fresh figs, almond cream, and a buttery crust.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Sliced almonds - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh figs - 12, sliced
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Egg - 1
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, softened
- Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup
- Almond flour - 1 cup
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Granulated sugar - 1/4 cup
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, cold and cubed
- All-purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a food processor, combine the all-purpose flour, cold cubed butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the beaten egg and pulse until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle large enough to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.
- In a bowl, combine the almond flour, powdered sugar, softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Spread the almond cream evenly over the tart crust.
- Arrange the sliced figs on top of the almond cream, pressing them slightly into the cream.
- Drizzle the honey over the figs and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the almond cream is set.
- Allow the tart to cool before serving. Serve at room temperature.
