Taro Cake
This delicious taro cake is made with grated taro, rice flour, and various savory ingredients.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 1 cup
- Dried mushrooms - 4 pieces, soaked and chopped
- Scallions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Chinese sausage - 1/4 cup, diced
- Dried shrimp - 1/4 cup, soaked and chopped
- Rice flour - 1 cup
- Taro - 2 cups, grated
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the grated taro, rice flour, dried shrimp, Chinese sausage, scallions, dried mushrooms, water, salt, and white pepper. Mix well to form a thick batter.
- Grease a round cake pan with vegetable oil and pour the batter into the pan.
- Steam the taro cake over high heat for 45-50 minutes, or until cooked through and firm.
- Remove the taro cake from the steamer and let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Once cooled, carefully remove the taro cake from the pan and slice into pieces.

- Pan-fry the taro cake slices until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
