Taro Ball Soup
A traditional Taiwanese dessert made from taro root and sweet potato, served in a sweet soup.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Pandan leaves - 2
- Rock sugar - 1 cup
- Water - 4 cups
- Tapioca flour - 2 cups
- Sweet potato - 1 large, peeled and diced
- Taro root - 1 large, peeled and diced
Let's Get Started
- Steam the taro and sweet potato until soft, about 15 minutes.
- Mash the taro and sweet potato separately, then mix each with 1 cup of tapioca flour to form a dough.
- Roll the dough into small balls and set aside.
- In a large pot, bring the water, rock sugar, and pandan leaves to a boil.
- Add the taro and sweet potato balls to the pot and cook until they float to the top.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve the soup hot, with the taro and sweet potato balls.
