Tamagoyaki
Tamagoyaki is a sweet, fluffy Japanese rolled omelette that's perfect for breakfast or as a sushi filling.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - A pinch
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Eggs - 4
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, beat the eggs. Add the sugar, soy sauce, mirin, and salt, and mix well.
- Heat the oil in a tamagoyaki pan (or a small rectangular or round non-stick frying pan) over medium heat.
- Pour a thin layer of egg mixture in the pan, tilting to cover the bottom of the pan.
- When the egg is half done, roll it up towards one side of the pan with a spatula.
- Pour another thin layer of egg mixture in the pan, lifting the already rolled omelette to let the mixture flow underneath.
- When the new layer of egg is half done, roll the omelette towards the opposite side of the pan.
- Repeat the process until all the egg mixture is used.
- Remove the omelette from the pan and let it cool. Then slice it into pieces and serve.
