Suman

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rinsed glutinous rice, coconut milk, white sugar, and salt. Mix well to ensure the rice is evenly coated.
  3. Place a banana leaf rectangle on a flat surface. Scoop about 1/4 cup of the rice mixture onto the center of the banana leaf.
  4. Fold the banana leaf over the rice, tucking in the sides to form a neat package. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining rice mixture and banana leaves.
  6. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Place the wrapped suman in the pot and cook for about 45-60 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the suman is firm.
  7. Remove the suman from the pot and let them cool slightly before serving.
  8. Serve the suman warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
