Sudanese sesame coffee is a traditional Sudanese beverage made with roasted sesame seeds and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Sugar - 2 teaspoons (optional)
- Water - 2 cups
- Ground cardamom - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Roasted sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- In a blender or coffee grinder, grind the roasted sesame seeds until fine.
- In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.
- Add the ground sesame seeds, cinnamon, and cardamom to the boiling water.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let it steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into cups.
- Add sugar to taste, if desired.
