Spanish Churros with Chocolate Dip
These crispy Spanish churros are the perfect treat to enjoy with a rich and creamy chocolate dip.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Heavy cream - 1 cup
- Dark chocolate - 8 ounces, chopped
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Eggs - 3
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and add all-purpose flour. Stir until the mixture forms a ball.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe the dough into long strips directly into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the dough.
- Fry the churros until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until hot but not boiling.
- Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and pour the hot cream over it. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth and creamy.
- Serve the churros warm with the chocolate dip on the side.
