Southern Style Green Beans
These Southern-Style Green Beans are cooked long and slow until melt in your mouth tender. Flavored with lots of bacon.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Chicken broth - 2 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green beans - 2 pounds, trimmed
- Bacon - 4 slices, chopped
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp.
- Remove the bacon from the pot and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pot.
- Add the green beans to the pot and cook in the bacon grease for a few minutes until they start to soften.
- Add the garlic to the pot and cook for another minute.
- Add the chicken broth, salt, and pepper to the pot and bring to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Let the green beans cook for about 2 hours, or until they are very tender.
- Stir the cooked bacon into the green beans just before serving.
