Shrimp & Grits
A classic Southern dish, shrimp and grits is a simple but flavorful meal that's great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bacon - 4 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shrimp - 1 pound, peeled and deveined
- Cheddar cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 4 cups
- Grits - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the salt and slowly stir in the grits. Reduce the heat to low and cover, cooking for 20-25 minutes or until the grits are tender, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the butter and cheese until fully melted and incorporated. Keep warm.
- In a large skillet, cook the shrimp and garlic, stirring frequently until the shrimp are pink, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the lemon juice, parsley, and bacon.
- Serve the shrimp mixture over the grits.
