Sesame Seed Cake

Ingredients - Serves 8
- Milk - 1 cup
- Honey - 1/2 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Eggs - 2 large
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, softened
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Sesame seeds - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
- Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden, about 5 minutes. Let cool.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then the vanilla and honey.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the toasted sesame seeds.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
