Roast Turkey
A classic roast turkey recipe perfect for Thanksgiving or any festive occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Celery - 2 stalks, cut into 2 inch pieces
- Carrot - 1, cut into 2 inch pieces
- Onion - 1, quartered
- Fresh rosemary - 2 sprigs
- Fresh thyme - 2 sprigs
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ground black pepper - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Butter - 1/2 cup, softened
- Whole turkey - 1 (12 pound)
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Rinse the turkey inside and out, and pat dry with paper towels.
- Rub the turkey all over with the softened butter, and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the garlic, thyme, rosemary, onion, carrot, and celery inside the turkey cavity.
- Place the turkey, breast side up, on a rack in a roasting pan.
- Roast in the preheated oven for about 4 hours, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the thigh measures 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the turkey from the oven and let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
