Queque Seco
Queque Seco is a traditional Costa Rican pound cake. It's simple, moist, and delicious, perfect for a snack or dessert.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Eggs - 4
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1 cup, softened
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk until just blended.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
