Potato Dauphinoise
Potato Dauphinoise is a classic French dish of sliced potatoes baked in milk or cream, using the gratin technique. It's a perfect side dish for a fancy dinner.

- Butter - For greasing
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon, freshly grated
- Milk - 200 ml
- Double cream - 500 ml
- Garlic - 2 cloves, crushed
- Potatoes - 1.5 kg, peeled and thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Grease a large baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, then sprinkle with half of the crushed garlic and season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
- Pour over half of the cream and half of the milk.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, garlic, cream, and milk.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbling.
- Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
