Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. Warm the milk and dissolve the sugar and yeast in it. Let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until the dough comes together.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it's smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  6. In the meantime, prepare the filling by combining the ground poppy seeds, honey, and vanilla extract.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the poppy seed filling over it, leaving a small border around the edges.
  9. Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long side, and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for about 35 minutes, or until the roll is golden brown.
  11. Let it cool before slicing and serving.
