Poha
Poha is a popular Indian breakfast dish made with flattened rice, vegetables, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Pomegranate seeds - 2 tablespoons (optional)
- Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - To taste
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Curry leaves - 8-10 leaves
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Flattened rice (poha) - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Wash the flattened rice (poha) under running water for a few seconds. Drain and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add curry leaves, chopped onion, and green chili. Sauté until the onion turns translucent.
- Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
- Add the washed flattened rice (poha) to the pan. Mix gently to combine all the ingredients.
- Cover the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to blend.
- Remove from heat and drizzle lemon juice over the poha. Mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds (optional).
- Serve hot and enjoy!
