  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Add the milk and mix until the dough comes together.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 cm in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges.
  9. Allow the pebernødder to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
