Pebernødder
Pebernødder are traditional Danish Christmas cookies flavored with spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom.
Ingredients - Serves 30
- Milk - 2 tablespoons
- Ground cloves - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ground cardamom - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground ginger - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 300g
- Sugar - 150g
- Butter - 150g
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
- Add the milk and mix until the dough comes together.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 cm in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges.
- Allow the pebernødder to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
