Pastilla Au Lait
Pastilla au Lait is a traditional Moroccan dessert made with milk, sugar, and thin pastry sheets. It's a sweet and creamy dessert that's perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Powdered sugar - For dusting
- Phyllo dough - 8 sheets
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 50 grams
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Sugar - 200 grams
- Milk - 1 liter
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until the sugar and cornstarch are completely dissolved.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer until it thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter and cinnamon.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the baking dish and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this process until you have used half of the phyllo sheets.
- Pour the milk mixture over the phyllo sheets in the baking dish.
- Cover the milk mixture with the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each one with melted butter as before.
- Bake the pastilla in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove the pastilla from the oven and let it cool. Dust it with powdered sugar before serving.
