Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until the sugar and cornstarch are completely dissolved.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer until it thickens.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter and cinnamon.
  4. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  5. Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the baking dish and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this process until you have used half of the phyllo sheets.
  6. Pour the milk mixture over the phyllo sheets in the baking dish.
  7. Cover the milk mixture with the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each one with melted butter as before.
  8. Bake the pastilla in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Remove the pastilla from the oven and let it cool. Dust it with powdered sugar before serving.
