Ingredients - Serves 12

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F) and line a 20cm (8 inch) cake tin with the wafer paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the honey and sugar and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the almonds, hazelnuts, candied citron, candied orange peel, flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and black pepper.
  4. Pour the warm honey and sugar mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a wet spatula.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, dust the top of the panforte with icing sugar.
