Pakora
Pakora is a popular Indian snack made with a variety of vegetables dipped in a spicy gram flour batter and deep-fried till crispy. It is a perfect snack for a rainy day.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For deep frying
- Spinach - 1 cup, chopped
- Onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Potato - 1, thinly sliced
- Salt - To taste
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - Approximately 1/2 cup
- Gram flour (besan) - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, mix together the gram flour, water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to make a smooth batter.
- Add the sliced potato, onion, and chopped spinach to the batter and mix well to ensure all the vegetables are coated with the batter.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the pakoras with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite chutney or ketchup.
