Onion and Gouda Grilled Cheese
This delicious grilled cheese sandwich is made with caramelized onions and creamy Gouda cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bread - 4 slices
- Gouda cheese - 4 slices
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
- Spread the remaining butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
- Top each slice with a slice of Gouda cheese.
- Divide the caramelized onions evenly between the two sandwiches.
- Top the onions with another slice of Gouda cheese.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up.
- Cook the sandwiches over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before serving.
- Cut the sandwiches in half and enjoy!
