Onion and Gouda Grilled Cheese

Let's Get Started

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Spread the remaining butter on one side of each bread slice.
  5. Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  6. Top each slice with a slice of Gouda cheese.
  7. Divide the caramelized onions evenly between the two sandwiches.
  8. Top the onions with another slice of Gouda cheese.
  9. Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up.
  10. Cook the sandwiches over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  11. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before serving.
  12. Cut the sandwiches in half and enjoy!
