Onion and Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Creamy mashed potatoes with the delicious flavors of onion and garlic.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Chives - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Potatoes - 2 pounds, peeled and cubed
Let's Get Started
- Place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
- While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the cooked onion and garlic mixture, butter, milk, salt, and black pepper.
- Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or fork until smooth and creamy. Adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and garnish with chopped chives.
