Onigiri

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Wash the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Then, add the rice and water to a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Once the rice is cooked, let it cool slightly until it's cool enough to handle.
  3. Wet your hands with water and sprinkle them with salt. Take about a handful of rice and shape it into a triangle or cylinder.
  4. If using umeboshi or furikake, make a small indentation in the rice and fill it with the umeboshi or sprinkle with furikake. Then, mold the rice around the filling to enclose it.
  5. Wrap the onigiri with a sheet of nori.
  6. Repeat with the remaining rice and fillings.
  7. Serve the onigiri at room temperature or slightly warmed.
