Let's Get Started

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the lamb pieces and brown on all sides.
  2. Add the ras el hanout, cinnamon, turmeric, salt, and pepper to the pot and stir to coat the lamb in the spices.
  3. Add the water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 2 hours.
  4. After 2 hours, stir in the honey and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, until the lamb is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  5. Serve the mrouzia garnished with the toasted almonds and sesame seeds.
