Mongolian Beef
This Mongolian beef recipe features tender strips of beef stir-fried with a savory and slightly sweet sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, sliced
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
- Flank steak - 1 pound, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with cornstarch until well coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Add the beef to the hot skillet and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the garlic and ginger. Cook for 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat it in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
