Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it is warm. Add the poppy seeds, stir well, and set aside to soak for 15 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and poppy seed mixture. Stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once the loaf is cool, dust it with powdered sugar before serving.
