Mee Kola
Mee Kola is a traditional Malaysian noodle dish made with yellow noodles, shrimp, vegetables, and a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Lime wedges - For serving
- Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Bean sprouts - 1/2 cup
- Carrots - 1/2 cup, julienned
- Cabbage - 1 cup, shredded
- Shrimp - 200g, peeled and deveined
- Yellow noodles - 200g
Let's Get Started
- Boil water in a pot and cook the yellow noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add shrimp and cook until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Push the shrimp to one side of the pan and add cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Pour the sauce over the noodles and vegetables.
- Add the cooked yellow noodles to the pan and toss everything together until well combined.
- Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the noodles are heated through.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions.
- Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.
