Maple Bacon Donuts
These sweet and savory donuts are a delicious treat for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients - Serves 12
- Maple extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Powdered sugar - 1 cup
- Cooked bacon - 6 strips, crumbled
- Unsalted butter - 1/4 cup, melted
- Eggs - 2
- Maple syrup - 1/2 cup
- Milk - 2/3 cup
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1.5 teaspoons
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, 1/4 cup of the maple syrup, eggs, and melted butter.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in half of the crumbled bacon.
- Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and spring back when touched.
- While the donuts are baking, make the glaze by combining the powdered sugar, remaining maple syrup, and maple extract in a bowl.
- Once the donuts have cooled slightly, dip the tops of each donut into the glaze and sprinkle with the remaining bacon.
