Manti
Manti is a traditional Turkish dumpling dish, filled with a savory mixture of ground lamb or beef. It's often served with a garlic-yogurt sauce and a drizzle of melted butter infused with paprika.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Plain yogurt - 1 cup
- For the sauce -
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Ground lamb or beef - 1/2 pound
- For the filling -
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- For the dough -

- To make the dough, combine the flour, egg, salt, and water in a large bowl. Knead until smooth, then cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- For the filling, mix together the ground meat, onion, salt, and pepper.
- Roll out the dough as thin as possible and cut into small squares. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each square, then fold the dough over to form a triangle, sealing the edges well.
- Boil the manti in salted water until they rise to the surface, about 5 minutes.
- While the manti are cooking, make the sauce by combining the yogurt and garlic. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and stir in the paprika.
- Drain the manti and divide among serving plates. Spoon the yogurt sauce over the top, then drizzle with the melted butter. Serve immediately.
