Maeun Tang
Maeun Tang is a spicy Korean fish stew made with various seafood and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - To taste
- Water - 6 cups
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Gochujang (korean red pepper paste) - 3 tablespoons
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Green onions - 4, chopped
- Tofu - 1/2 block, cut into cubes
- Squid - 1/2 lb, cleaned and sliced
- Mussels - 1/2 lb
- Clams - 1/2 lb
- Shrimp - 1/2 lb, peeled and deveined
- Fish fillets - 1 lb, cut into bite-sized pieces
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
- Add garlic, ginger, and green onions. Sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add gochujang, soy sauce, and fish sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Add water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes to develop flavors.
- Add fish fillets, shrimp, clams, mussels, and squid. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add tofu and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and red pepper flakes to taste.
- Serve hot in bowls, garnished with additional green onions.
