Maccheroni Con La Salsiccia
A traditional Italian pasta dish featuring hearty sausage and a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Parmesan cheese - To serve
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Red wine - 1/2 cup
- Canned tomatoes - 1 can (400 grams)
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Italian sausage - 4 links
- Maccheroni pasta - 400 grams
Let's Get Started
- Cook the maccheroni pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sausage and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the garlic and onion and cook until softened.
- Add the canned tomatoes and red wine to the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the sausage to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes.
- Drain the pasta and add it to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
- Serve the pasta with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
