  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, beer, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Dip each fish fillet into the batter, making sure it's fully coated.
  4. Carefully lower the battered fish into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the fish from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve the lekkerbek hot, with lemon wedges on the side.
