Lavashak
Lavashak is a traditional Persian fruit leather made from dried fruits.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Water - 1 cup
- Dried fruits (e.g., apricots, plums, cherries) - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, combine the dried fruits and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and add sugar, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Stir well.
- Cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the mixture onto it, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Place the baking sheet in a cool, dry place and let the mixture dry for 2-3 days, or until it becomes firm and leathery.
- Once dried, cut the lavashak into strips or squares.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
